Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our contracting company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting regulations, and providing accurate financial information to support decision-making in the company. The role involves financial transactions, preparing reports, managing accounts payable and receivable, and assisting in the budgeting process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for all transactions related to contracting projects, including payroll, supplier payments, and customer invoicing.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process vendor invoices, manage supplier accounts, and ensure timely payments. Client invoicing, monitor collections, and ensure proper cash flow management.
- Project Cost Tracking: Track costs and expenses for construction projects, ensuring they align with budgets. Report any discrepancies or issues to the management team.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports. Provide financial insights and analysis to management.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with local tax laws, including VAT, income tax, and other relevant taxes. Assist with tax filings and documentation for audits.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets for new projects, track project performance, and report on variances between projected and actual figures.
- Reconciliation: Reconcile bank accounts, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction or contracting industry.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and MS Excel.
- Attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to analyze financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Knowledge of tax laws and financial reporting standards relevant to the contracting industry.
